I have realised, I DO NOT understand half the lyrics in songs. So right now I'm listening to Coldplay - See You Soon (Insert judgement here) and I hear "In a bullet proof vest, with the windows all closed. I'll be doing my best, I'll see you soon" HUH??? Then it goes "In a telescope lens, and when all you want is friends. I'll see you soon" WHAAATTT?? Maybe it's just me. There's some deep metaphor here that I'm just not getting. Does anyone get that, cause I don't. Funny thing is, I've heard this song a number of times and I've only just listened to it properly. To be honest, I just like the calm melody of it.
To further this topic on, I was in a taxi a few days ago and a song came on and I am going to assume it's called "Bounce" as that was literally the only word in the song accompanied with "I'm gonna make you". Everyone in the taxi stopped talking, I think because of complete utter shock and disgust that a group of people decided to produce such a vile song. I am not a music snob (you will probably laugh at my music taste, don't worry, I sometimes do as well) but what happened to music? You know I've lost the point I was trying to make. But yeah, I think people should put more thought into music and not just have repetitive lyrics. (I have realised that was not my original point, as I started this post about not understanding lyrics in songs but I think this is somehow related) You know what, it's 4am.
I think this is more of a kinda diary entry, rather than an actual blog post. There is nothing to conclude here, so this is kinda my conclusion.
Also I think. Spotify should be free.
Shoot me, I'm cheap.
This may or may not be posted. If this is. Welcome to inside my head.
Sometimes the fear of the unknown is the best fear. I used to think that everyone needed a career plan. I've asked many people what they wanted to do and most, if not all, had an answer. Then they would ask me and I would say "I don't know". I do, but I don't. It used to be something different every time someone asked me, so I settled with "I don't know". Growing up I always thought you had to know what you wanted to do. You go to college, then university then get a graduate job and progress from there to get to your dream job. I always felt a little bit different. A few years ago I wanted to be a management consultant. I actually didn't know what that was, I just knew I would earn lots of money. Then I moved on to human resource consultant, business analyst, hedge fund manager???? I didn't realise that it was all to do with money, and I guess it was because of that I couldn't stick to what I wanted to do.
Then it came to mee (but secretly kinda knew all along).
It's the doing of what you love that is the reward, not the money.
*update* (I wrote this a few months ago, but did not actually post)
So fellow graduates and undergraduates and anyone who is reading this! Here is a lovely video that I have watched countless of times which has inspired me to keep on searching so that I can live the most rewarding and fulfilling life!
I know one thing for certain, I want to help the world.
I did another photoshoot! This time I decided to shoot in black and white. I didn't even know I could change the settings in my camera to just shoot purely in black and white! *slaps forehead* So as soon as I found out I was eager to find a subject to shoot with. Luckily my wonderful friend Salome (who is an excellent poet and writer, link to her youtube video is here ) wanted a few photos for a project she was working on, so we set off on to the streets of Hull to get shooting!
I'm done with exams! *attempts to do a cartwheel and fails badly*
I can now start blogging regularly or as regularly as I can, which should be twice a week or on a busy week once a week! Anyway, a few months ago I shot a few photographs for my friend and her blog. I really liked the photos and I was impressed at how they turned out. I was experimenting with the settings on the camera as the theme of the photoshoot was colour, and I wanted the contrasting main colours of green, blue and browny/orange (the bricks) to really come out!
I have to say, I absolutely loved shooting my friend Alisha, and hope to shoot with her again sometime soon. I think i'm starting to figure out what type of photography I like to do. Portraits and street photography is definitely something that I want to do more of.
A few weeks ago I made root vegetable stew it tasted so good! So I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you guys. I've never really been a fan of soup and have never made it! So when I realized how easy it is and how nice it tasted I wondered why I have never made it before! Also the recipe is healthy and filling!
Here is the recipe (4 servings):
2 onions
4 carrots
1 parsnip
1 swede
2 cloves of garlic
500ml chicken/vegetable stock
1 tsp of italian herbs
Coconut oil
Dash of Maggi sauce
Pinch of aromat all purpose seasoning
Pinch of sea salt
Pinch of black pepper
Pinch of curry powder
Method:
Cut the carrots, parsnip and swede into small chunks
Dice the onions and one glove of garlic
Heat the oil to medium heat and throw in the garlic, cook for 1 minute
Throw in the onions and fry until browned
Add all the cut up vegetables into the pot, cook for a further minute
Add the vegetable stock, cover and cook for 5 minutes
Add the clove of garlic and all the herbs and spices. Lower the heat and cook for a further 10-15 minutes or until vegetables are soft.
Take off the cooker and let it cool for 2 minutes
Pour the broth into the blender and blend until desired consistency, I like mine a thick so I blended mine for minute and a half. If you want the soup a bit more thin then add some water and blend some more!
I garnished mine with some chili, but coriander will also do!
I'm tying to still get the hang of photography. Taking photography seriously while trying studying for my final year studies is quite hard. But NO EXCUSES! I have set myself to post twice a week for for weeks! Lets hope I stick to it!
